Feature: Armory week sends NYC into an art frenzy.

I’m off to New York City to peruse the aisles and aisles of contemporary art at The Armory Show. Armory week, an international event in its 12th year, has certainly set the bar high for other art fairs. This is the time of year when the most important collectors open up their doors to private tours; when international embassies and cultural institutions host events city wide; and when international eyes look towards NYC for the newest crop of art stars and trends.

Other art fairs such as Volta NY and SCOPE NY run concurrently throwing NYC into a frenzy of events, lecture series, parties, with hundreds of galleries exhibiting choice works in contemporary art from around the world. As always, I will be front and centre - tweeting as I go - follow me @tatartalks to read my top picks, art world anecdotes, with a dose of my usual or unusual humour.

Canada makes its presence felt through The Art Dealers Association of Canada hosting its own booth (Booth 1511 - Pier 94) with furniture provided by Klaus by Neinkamper. ADAC has an amazing line up of events - focused on showcasing Canadian art and galleries (including Toronto’s own Sandra Ainsley Gallery, whose work we will be featuring soon at KLAUS). Programs include walking tours, lectures, and an exhibit entitled “A Quiet Revolution: Canadian Art Now”, curated by William Huffman to bring attention to the amazing cultural production/dialogues taking place along the 49th parallel.

Tatar Art Projects has always featured and championed the very best in contemporary Canadian art. We applaud the ADAC for this bold initiative in bringing Canada and Canadians to this prestigious event. For more information and a schedule of programs, visit their website.
